As the year draws to a close, both the House and Senate are in session this week before their scheduled recess for the holidays.
The House plans to vote on a bipartisan bill from the Natural Resources Committee aimed at accelerating the production and delivery of domestic energy. In addition, House Republican leaders are also working to advance a bill to address health care costs. Last week, the Senate held votes on health care proposals but failed to reach a consensus.
The Senate is scheduled to consider the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a $900 billion measure that the House passed last week by a vote of 312–112.
The Senate is scheduled to return to Washington, D.C., on Jan. 5, while the House will reconvene on Jan. 6.
