U.S. lawmakers said they've reached an agreement with the Trump administration on U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement (USMCA) provisions and plan to support the deal in a vote. Today, NAIOP President and CEO Thomas J. Bisacquino issued a statement supporting its passage:
Increased trade between the United States, Canada and Mexico will boost the overall economies of all three countries. NAIOP commends the administration and the congressional leadership of the House of Representatives for working together in good faith to make sensible updates to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), and agreeing on USMCA.
Free trade is not a partisan issue. By their statement of support, Democrats and Republicans have proven they can work together, and all Americans will enjoy the coming increase in economic growth. Lawmakers should pass USMCA as soon as possible.
NAIOP has supported this agreement since discussions began in 2018. We strongly support cross-border investment and free trade throughout North America and will continue to work with Congress to pass USMCA.
