Khalil Rahal is the Assistant County Executive responsible for overseeing all economic development activity, managing HUD funds, leading the County’s legislative work in Washington D.C. as well as Lansing, and handling all the County’s real estate. In addition, he works on reducing property tax foreclosures in Wayne County by coordinating foreclosure prevention efforts with the Wayne County Land Bank. He was included in this year’s class of Crain’s 40 Under 40, awarded to those Detroit-area leaders recognized as making a significant difference in their communities.
He served as Ombudsman and FOIA coordinator for Wayne County from January 2015 until October of that year.
Prior to joining the County, Rahal served as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office from January 2010 until January 2015. Assigned to the Special Victims Unit, Rahal was involved in over 1,000 criminal cases, specializing in sexual assaults and domestic violence.
