Alexandre (Alex) Ford has joined NAIOP as director of federal affairs, where he’ll be charged with helping develop and implement the association’s federal agenda for tax issues, environment and energy policy, and federal regulations important to commercial real estate. He reports to Aquiles Suarez, NAIOP vice president for government affairs.
Most recently, Ford worked in the federal relations department at the American Institute of Architects (AIA), where he covered a wide range of issues including energy tax incentives, federal procurement law and infrastructure spending. He also previously worked at the government relations firm Venn Strategies, and before that served as an aide to former Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman.
“Alex’s knowledge of the issues facing commercial real estate and his experience on Capitol Hill are a definite asset to the association,” said Thomas J. Bisacquino, NAIOP president and CEO. “His impressive background and ability to relate with NAIOP and Congressional members alike is truly an advantage that will help keep the needs of NAIOP members at the forefront.”
Ford is a graduate of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in government.
