The Charles Hawkins Co. has been one of the leading, independent, full-service real estate companies in Nashville, Tennessee since 1962. As president of the privately-held company, Mr. Agnew’s primary duties include managing the day-to-day operations involved with 15 employees and 20 brokers. Secondly, his responsibilities include asset management oversight for a $500 million portfolio of commercial property that totals approximately 9.6 million square feet.
Mr. Agnew was named president of the company in 2016 after serving as chief operating officer and asset manager for three years. In 2012, he joined Charles Hawkins Co.as a broker and focused on industrial clients in Murfreesboro, TN. Prior to joining the company, he attended Vanderbilt University where he received an MBA with a focus on Finance and Real Estate. Mr. Agnew was an MBA intern with Boyle Investment Company, where he underwrote and analyzed acquisition targets for a $100 million private equity fund. Prior to attending Vanderbilt, he practiced as a licensed structural engineer in Nashville. Mr. Agnew also holds an MS in Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and a BCE from Auburn University.
Currently, Mr. Agnew is leading the development efforts for a 451,521 square foot build-to-suit project for the US Postal Service. In 2015, Mr. Agnew coordinated the redevelopment of The Boot Factory, a 127,000 square foot warehouse conversion project that won an Excellence in Development Award from the local ULI Chapter. Mr. Agnew received the 2016 NAIOP Developing Leader Award for the Middle Tennessee Chapter and was selected as a Rising Star in the Power Leaders of CRE sponsored by the Nashville Business Journal. He obtained the CCIM designation (certified commercial investment member) in 2016. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of NAIOP and is an active member of St. George’s Episcopal Church. Lewis and his wife are parents of three young girls.
