Mark Taylor is managing director, residential, at American Real Estate Partners (AREP), a Washington, D.C.-based real estate private equity firm. He has over 35 years experience in residential investment, development and operations with institutional and private equity investors. This includes new construction, adaptive reuse and acquisition/rehab totaling more than $4 billion involving apartment communities, condominiums, hotels and retail mixed use. He started the urban platform for the Bozzuto Group in Washington, D.C., a nationally known residential development, investment, construction and management company. Prior to his current position at AREP he was recruited by the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) as the operating partner for a platform company focused on regenerating transitional neighborhoods in Washington, D.C. He has served on institutional boards and nonprofits including the Maryland governor’s Green Building Task Force, National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers, Lambda Alpha International, Urban Land Institute, HomeAid DC and Renaissance Housing Corporation.
