John Beuerlein

John Beuerlein is Chief Economist for the Pohlad family’s operating companies, which include NorthMarq Capital, United Properties, Carousel Motor Group, PaR Systems, and span several industries, including commercial real estate, radio and media, high-end jewelry along with Major League Baseball’s Minnesota Twins.

John previously served as Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Marquette Asset Management, managing the firm’s investment research activities and chairing the Investment Committee. He also served as chief economist of Marquette Financial Companies. John joined the organization in 2000 when Marquette acquired Apocalypse Corporation, at the time he was serving as its president. An intense study of the Federal Reserve and its monetary policy development is the underlying basis for most of the investment strategies he has employed in his 30 years in the investment management field. Along with several senior positions at Apocalypse, John’s career includes the general manager role at Alabama Investment Managers. John earned a graduate degree from Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA, and an undergraduate degree with highest honors from the University of Kansas. He is on the investment advisory boards for the Dixon Group and The Dixon Foundation of Birmingham, Alabama. John is a member of the investment committee of the Jeremiah Program, a member of the finance committee of St. Patrick’s Church in Edina, Minnesota, and in the past has been a board member of the Cystic Fibrosis Society of Minnesota and Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
