Dr. Justin McCusker serves as senior executive with C.J. Segerstrom & Sons and South Coast Plaza, C.J. Segerstrom & Sons is family owned real estate development company known for their internationally acclaimed shopping center South Coast Plaza. The Plaza has the highest gross sales of any planned retail establishment in North America and the largest collection of luxury retailers. Other major holdings include office buildings, hotels, industrial buildings, shopping centers and residential projects.
He currently serves both as the Director of the South Coast Plaza Office Division and as Director of Community and Government Relations. The office building portfolio includes a prominent trio of office properties with Plaza Tower, a 460,852-square foot office building designed by renowned architect Cesar Pelli; Center Tower, a 462,191-square foot office building that features 21-stories of Swedish Napoleon red granite; Park Tower, a 17-story 338,070-square foot office building, that was renovated by renowned architect Helmut Jahn; and the 393 room Westin South Coast Plaza.
Prior to his work at C.J. Segerstrom & Sons/South Coast Plaza, he worked for the County of Orange, serving in executive positions as a chief of staff to a member of the Board of Supervisors, in the County Executive Office and as the spokesperson for John Wayne Airport. He has had a long career of working in both public service and the private sector, serving in key management roles that help shape public policy.
Actively involved in his community and industry Dr. McCusker serves on a variety of local, regional and statewide organizations, including as Board President of NAIOP SoCal (2023), President of the Santa Margarita Water District, the Orange County Taxpayers Association (Chairman 2015-2016), Orange County Parks Commission (Chairman 2013-2014), Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, South Coast Metro Alliance, City of Costa Mesa Economic Development Commission, California Business Properties Association, California Business Roundtable (Chief Deputy) and Orange County Public Affairs Association, and former Director of the South Orange County Economic Coalition.
He is on the faculty at California State University-Fullerton as an Adjunct Professor of Public Administration and at Saddleback College as an Associate Professor of Political Science.
Dr. McCusker received his Doctorate from the University of Southern California in Planning, Policy and Development, his Master’s degree from California State University-Fullerton in Public Administration, and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Michigan University in Political Science.
He is a resident of Rancho Santa Margarita where he lives with his wife and four children.
