Update on Chapter Leadership & Legislative Retreat 2022

The 2022 Chapter Leadership & Legislative Retreat, scheduled for Jan. 31-Feb. 2, has been canceled.

This decision was made out of an abundance of caution for our members’ health and well-being. Unfortunately, the pandemic’s prolonged impact and subsequent challenges preclude us from providing you with an experience that meets your expectations for this event.

Reimbursement Policy

Chapter Leadership & Legislative Retreat Travel and Expense Policy

  • Attendees who have been pre-approved by their chapter board will be reimbursed for hotel and travel (per the noted travel regulation). Medium and large chapters can have up to five (5) approved attendees and small chapters can have up to four (4) approved attendees for reimbursement. Chapter size designations will be determined on the date conference registration opens (December 1, 2021).

  • If you purchased airfare for the event prior to its cancellation, we suggest that you contact your carrier about a credit or refund. Airfare credit that you are unable to use by Dec. 31, 2022, will be reimbursed by NAIOP Corporate for the purchase cost, without the deductible. To submit your reimbursement, contact Beth Gulding.

 

Board of Directors and Executive Committee Meetings

Meetings for the Executive Committee and Board of Directors will remain on the dates as scheduled in a virtual format:

Executive Committee on Tuesday, Feb. 1, from 10 a.m.-noon ET, and the Board of Directors on Wednesday, Feb. 2, from 10 a.m.-noon ET.

Board and Executive Committee members will receive login information prior to the meeting.

As a benefit to all members, we will offer a special virtual session with CL&LR keynote, longtime NAIOP friend and political expert Larry Sabato, Ph.D. on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 4 p.m. ET, where he'll discuss today's political landscape, the midterm elections, and what we can expect Congress and the Biden administration to focus on moving forward. An invitation to register for this special event will be sent to members soon.

Sabato is the master of the most accurate website on politics and the man who repeatedly takes home top honors for his election predictions, as he gives his up-to-the-minute update on politics in this engaging and informative keynote. Sabato is a New York Times bestselling author, recipient of four Emmy awards, and one of the nation’s most respected political analysts. A Rhodes Scholar, Sabato is the founder and director of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics, and has had visiting appointments at Oxford and Cambridge universities in England.
