NAIOP Honors Chapters and Individuals with Annual Chapter Merit Awards

Award Winners Recognized During Virtual Chapter Leadership and Legislative Retreat

NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, honored 11 chapters and seven individuals during the annual Chapter Merit Awards, held as part of the virtual Chapter Leadership & Legislative Retreat.

The Chapter Merit Awards (CMAs) recognize success in education, special events, legislative advocacy and leadership, as well as individual recognition and Chapter of the Year. Recipients are selected by a committee of their peers comprised of volunteer judges.

Chapter of the Year
The Chapter of the Year Award honors chapters for overall excellence throughout the year, including involvement with Corporate, chapter growth, civic service and more. This year’s winners have truly raised the bar, demonstrating an unyielding dedication to providing value for NAIOP members at every level.

Medium Chapter: NAIOP Central Florida
Large Chapter: NAIOP Southern Nevada

Outstanding Leadership by a Chapter President
The award for Outstanding Leadership by a Chapter President is presented to a Chapter President who has demonstrated outstanding dedication to their chapter's growth and success. This year's winners have worked to increase and diversify membership, elevate programming, empower volunteers and engage local leaders.

Medium Chapter: David Murphy, NAIOP Central Florida
Large Chapter: Julie Cleaver, NAIOP Southern Nevada

Chapter Volunteer of the Year
The Volunteer of the Year Award is presented to a chapter volunteer for their exceptional efforts and contributions to their chapter. This year’s winners possess incredible work ethic and commitment and have proven integral to their local chapters’ success.

Small Chapter: Brent Nasset, NAIOP Northern Nevada
Medium Chapter: (tie) Jim Chynoweth, NAIOP New Mexico; and Bob Moser, NAIOP Central Florida Large Chapter: Rosanne Beattie, NAIOP DC|MD

Outstanding Contribution by a Chapter Executive
The Outstanding Contribution by a Chapter Executive Award is presented to chapter leaders for their valued contributions, innovation and knowledge. This year’s winner has provided outstanding leadership in guiding her chapter for 25 years, spearheading multiple coalitions, introducing new programs, and representing the industry across the state, among many other accomplishments.

Medium Chapter: Lynne Andersen, NAIOP New Mexico

The Education Award is presented to chapters that organized an exceptional program, series, event or seminar with educational content. In a challenging year, these winning chapters hosted unique and engaging virtual market tours, speaker series and more.

Small Chapter: NAIOP Northwest Florida
The chapter is being recognized for their What’s Up! Chat Series, which engaged relevant speakers from the community to educate members and keep them informed about issues that affect the commercial real estate community.

Medium Chapter: NAIOP South Florida
NAIOP South Florida hosted an Industrial Tri-County Tour and Industrial Programming Series, which included two industrial-focused moderated Zoom panels, industrial update and virtual bus tour.

Large Chapter: NAIOP Georgia
The chapter is being recognized for their NAIOP Georgia School Challenge, an academic competition between teams from some of the top business graduate schools from major universities in Georgia. The competition involves analyzing complex current market conditions relating to office and industrial real estate in Atlanta.

Legislative Affairs
The Legislative Affairs Award recognizes chapters whose government affairs activities and advocacy influenced important state and local issues. This year’s winners built relationships with opinion leaders and officials, and provided valuable testimony on issues critical to commercial real estate.

Medium Chapter: NAIOP Central Florida
The chapter had several major victories this year, including spearheading the enactment of a milestone bill removing the witness requirements for commercial real estate leases, signed by Governor Ron DeSantis.

Large Chapter: NAIOP Arizona
NAIOP Arizona helped minimize the scope and duration of Governor Doug Ducey’s executive order on commercial tenant evictions, ensured construction projects and other real estate services were not shut down during the pandemic, and more.

Special Events
The Special Event Award celebrates chapters who have planned and executed exceptional and unique chapter events. This year’s winners faced the distinct challenge of producing programs that delivered both education and fun, despite a limited ability to host in-person events.

Medium Chapter: NAIOP South Florida
The chapter is being recognized for their Awards of Excellence event, which saw major viewership and engagement through social media and YouTube, even after making the pivot to an all-virtual format.

Large Chapter: NAIOP Southern Nevada
The chapter got creative in reimagining and recreating their annual bus tour to be an all-new virtual event, including a flyover video, interactive website, and speaker panels.
