Health and Safety Protocols

Updated October 21, 2021

The safety and well-being of conference attendees are top priorities for NAIOP. For meetings in 2021, NAIOP will follow recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for events and gatherings, working with the host hotel to follow protocols based on current national, local and health advisories and requirements.

If you have been exposed to or tested positive for COVID-19 with 14 days of the event, you are prohibited from attending. Contact us prior to the event to receive a credit for a future event or refund.

If you are on-site and experience illness or COVID-19 symptoms, return to your hotel room and notify NAIOP immediately.

If you test positive for COVID-19 up to 14 days after returning home, notify NAIOP immediately.

NAIOP has done its due diligence to follow guidelines and employ preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, NAIOP cannot guarantee that meeting participants, partners, or others in attendance will not become infected with COVID-19.

Face Masks and Coverings

The conference hotel, Westin Newport Jersey City, is currently requiring face masks or coverings in all indoor public areas.

These public areas may include hotel lobbies, meetings and events spaces, restaurants and bars, and fitness centers. Some guests may be exempt from this mandate, including but not limited to guests with medical conditions, guests consuming food or beverages in restaurants, guests who are seated outdoors and socially distant, and meetings and events where guests are seated and socially distant. Westin hotels also requires masks when moving around in outdoor areas.

If you do not have a face covering that meets these standards, NAIOP will provide one to you.

Social Distancing

Conference seating will be spaced to respect guidelines for social distancing. Wherever possible, NAIOP will manage traffic flows to allow for recommended distancing. Use your best judgment in entering crowded or confined areas, such as public hotel spaces, restaurants, restrooms and elevators.

Contact Free and Sanitization

The conference hotel will provide handwashing and sanitizing stations in high-traffic areas. NAIOP will provide touchless hand sanitization stations at registration and throughout the conference space.

Food and Beverage

NAIOP will put measures in place to provide meals and food items in the safest possible way. Hotel staff preparing and serving food items will wear masks and gloves.

Currently, the hotel is not currently providing in-room dining service; guests can order Uber Eats and Grub Hub for delivery to the hotel. The hotel’s Half Moon Restaurant and Half Moon Lounge is not open, however there is a grab-and-go located in the lobby that is open 6-11 a.m. The hotel’s Fire & Oak Restaurant is open 3-10 p.m. from Monday-Friday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. from Saturday-Sunday.
