Transaction Volume Picks Up, Recovery on Horizon

It's no surprise to anyone that transaction volume has diminished greatly from the early 2007 figures. Both in the number of deals getting done and the total dollar amount the US and global markets have seen a large decrease. But as many investors and analysts believe the recession has hit rock bottom, transactions are beginning to happen again and investors are slowly readying to get back in the game, according to the Transaction Market panel at Thursday's NAIOP conference.

New national chair of NAIOP emphasizes diversity of industry

Larry Pobuda, a Twin Cities real estate veteran and principal of boutique real estate development firm Stewart Lawrence Group, in Bloomington, will be installed this week as the new chairman of NAIOP, a national real estate trade group. His appointment comes in the midst of one of the worst slumps in the commercial sector in the past two decades.
