Michael Mullen recently accepted the leadership gavel to begin his term as national chairman of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) - the nation's leading trade association for developers, owners, investors and other professionals in industrial, office and mixed-use commercial real estate.
Mullen accepted the gavel from 2006 Chairman Robert Cutlip, managing director of First Industrial Realty Trust Inc., during development '06: the annual conference for commercial real estate.
"NAIOP is pleased that Mike is serving as our national chairman," said NAIOP President
Thomas J. Bisacquino. "His extensive involvement in the commercial real estate industry and his contributions to NAIOP certainly give him an edge as our chairman, and we look forward to his leadership throughout the year in all aspects of our membership, and especially within our government affairs arena."
Mullen joined NAIOP in 2001 and is a member of NAIOP's Chicago chapter. He serves as a NAIOP-PAC Trustee and a Research Foundation Governor. He is past chairman of NAIOP's government affairs and member of the industrial education committee, and currently chairs the CEO Retreat advisory board.
"NAIOP is the top organization that represents, fosters and protects the interests of developers, owners and investors in commercial real estate, and I'm excited to lead this organization in 2007," said Mullen. "My goal is to build and establish the association in strength by strengthening our voice on Capitol Hill
and providing the best resources available to the industry."
Mullen is co-founder and CEO of CenterPoint Properties Trust, which owns leases and manages more than 47 million square feet of facilities in the Chicago area. He handles all aspects of the company's investment activities and property operations.
