Green Lease Guide

This guide provides information on pass-through provisions for capital improvements that lower total operating costs as well as other resources to "green" a commercial lease. Hundreds of side notes, including annotations to maintain sustainable building operations and management are also provided.

LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance Reference Guiden

This reference guide provides a section overview for each credit category, the number of points per credit, summaries of referenced standards, recommended operational strategies and technologies, potential design synergies and trade-offs and submittal documentation. A free download of the guide's introduction is available.

Putting the Eco in Industrial

This paper outlines how an industrial park can meet the needs of business while having a positive financial and social impact on the community. Case studies of eco-industrial parks in Canada are provided. Thanks to NAIOP member firm Eco-Industrial Solutions for this article!

California Takes Aim at Hazardous Chemicals

The state continues on its path to reduce or eliminate hazardous chemicals from the environment through the Green Chemistry Program. The program will work with scientists from California and around the world to evaluate the health effects of chemicals and possible alternatives.

DOE Pursues Zero-Net Energy Initiative for Commercial Buildings

The U.S. Department of Energy announced the launch of their Zero-Net Energy program with establishment of the National Laboratory Collaborative on Building Technologies. Both focus on DOE's ongoing efforts to develop buildings that use cutting-edge efficiency technologies and on-site renewable energy (such as solar power and geothermal) generation to offset their energy use from the electricity grid by 2025.

NAIOP Energy Policy

Are you familiar with NAIOP's recently released energy policy statement? The policy follows NAIOP's Policy on Sustainable Development, which was announced in September 2007.
