REALpac 2015 Energy Reduction Targets

The Real Property Association of Canada (REALpac) is adopting an energy consumption target for office buildings of 20 equivalent kilowatt hours of total energy use per square foot of rentable area per year by 2015. The target is intended as an essential first step in demonstrating substantial, sector-wide emissions reductions and operating cost savings, while taking full advantage of incentives and getting in front of potential regulations.

Green Building Standard Open For Review

ASHRAE Proposed Standard 189.1, currently open for a fourth public review, is expected to be published in early 2010. The public comment period started September 18 and remains open until November 2, 2009.

ProLogis was honored for its industrial project, the S. C. Johnson & Son, Inc., building in Sturtevant, Wis.; and Forest City Covington was recognized for its office building that houses Fidelity Investments at Mesa del Sol in Albuquerque, N.M.
