Industry Professionals Evaluate Building Green
According to the third annual Allen Matkins/CTG survey, 93.4 percent agree that it is worth the time and effort to build green, but only 66.2 percent believe that obtaining LEED certification is worth the effort. A survey of over 900 industry professionals addresses current attitudes toward sustainable building including risks, costs, certification processes and trends.

Maryland Forms Green Economic Development Initiative
Montgomery County, Maryland, officials create a 30-member Green Economy Task Force to help guide and implement the Green Economic Development Initiative (GEDI). Some key objectives include attracting new businesses that provide green services; driving innovation into next generation technologies; and facilitating work force training.
HinesGO® Program Launched
The Houston office of Hines announces a new initiative to enhance the sustainable features and operation of the space it occupies. The program helps identify and implement no-cost and low-cost alternatives to operating in a standard indoor office environment and encourages employees to conduct cost-benefits analyses for improvements at nominal cost.
Flipping the Solar Power Switch
Hartz Mountain Industries turns on its new solar rooftop array, the first of many installations that Hartz plans to install on warehouse roofs within its 30 million square foot portfolio. New Jersey utility PSE&G will provide $1.62 million in loans with the balance invested by Hartz.
Purchasing Wind Energy
Foulger-Pratt's annual purchase of wind power from Clean Currents, LLC will offset approximately 54 million pounds of carbon, the equivalent of removing over 4,500 cars from the road.
