Plugging in For Electric Cars
With the coming of plug-in electric vehicles, parking facility owners are wondering what they should do regarding electric vehicle recharging. Control Parking Lot Lighting To Save Money, Electricity
A new, controlled lighting system called The Green Spider launched recently, and claims to "reduce lighting energy consumption and costs by about 30 percent, extend the life of existing lighting, and pay for itself in as little as four months." Fixtures operate normally during heavy daylight and evening traffic hours. But at a predetermined time, the system turns off up to three individual 1,000-watt fixtures and leaves one remaining fixture illuminated for both local lighting codes and security. At dawn, the system resets itself.
