The Distinguished Fellows program is open to those in the academic and research field of commercial real estate and has been established to serve as a bridge between the practicing commercial real estate community and the academic community.
- Obtain active participation in NAIOP's programs from leading researchers and educators;
- Maintain a link with these education centers through participation of their Fellows; and
- Recognize outstanding individuals for their contributions to the field through research and educational achievements.
Becoming a Distinguished Fellows gives you the following benefits:
- Complimentary annual membership to NAIOP
- Complimentary registration at the Development annual meeting (Fall) and National Forums Symposium (Spring)

During your term as a Fellow, you are expected to actively participate in NAIOP events and programs and to contribute to NAIOP's educational activities. These activities could include the following:
- Provide overview presentations of your current research, typically to the National Forums and/or NAIOP Board of Directors. Presentation topics must be relevant to the commercial real estate community. The maximum number of presentations you would be asked to give is three per NAIOP event; if you are willing, you could give four
- Serve on a steering committee for research projects for the Association or its Foundation
- Serve on a Corporate Committee
- Provide advice, feedback or information to NAIOP regarding research being conducted in commercial real estate
- Submit an article to Development magazine or publish an article for the NAIOP website

How to Apply
Distinguished Fellows may be nominated by NAIOP Chapter Presidents and members of the Corporate Board of Directors.
In the Fall of each year, the Distinguished Fellows Credentialing Committee reviews all applications and candidates are notified of their status. In making appointments, the committee endeavors to achieve diversity.
- Holds an advanced degree in a real estate-related field
- Is employed full-time in research or academia
- Has significant experience as a researcher and/or educator
- Has published articles, books or research findings
Interested candidates must submit the following:
- Letter of Nomination
A letter of nomination written by a NAIOP Chapter President or member of the Corporate Board of Directors.
- Cover Letter
Should include full name, university or institution address, phone, fax and email.
- Curriculum Vitae
Information should include and is not limited to: professional experience, education, area of expertise, academic publications, presentations, professional memberships and professional development. If you are submitting your information for review by email and your Curriculum Vitae is online, provide us with the link or Web site information.
