Karolyn Blumer

Arent Fox
Karolyn Blumer is an associate in the real estate group. Her practice focuses on commercial lease transactions, retail and industrial markets, developers, investors, corporate real estate departments, and other institutional and entrepreneurial clients in connection with financing, acquisition and disposition of real estate.
Prior to joining Arent Fox, Blumer was an associate in the real estate practice at a Washington, D.C. law firm. Before law school, she was an associate at CB Richard Ellis in Chicago, where she managed multimarket transaction management programs, including acquisition and disposition services for office and industrial properties. While there, she also designed and performed detailed valuation analyses using custom financial models and served as a key member of a strategic team for a manufacturing portfolio disposition assignment.
James M. Farrell

Jim Farrell is a Principal and founding member of Madison RetailGroup based in the Washington, D.C. office. He brings to the team more than 20 years of retail real estate experience, and was originally with The Retail Group and SmithyBraedon. Representing landlords and developers is Farrell's primary focus. He assists clients in the merchandising, development and leasing of all types of retail properties, including mixed-use projects, urban storefronts, town centers, lifestyle centers, shopping centers and ground up developments.
His clients within the Washington, D.C. area include the owners of Festival at Waldorf, Plaza America, Hunters Wood Village Center, The Shops at Mark Center and Westview Promenade. He was also involved in several high-profile, large-scale suburban developments. He was hired to assist in the development and leasing of The Shops at Belmont, South Riding Market Square, Dominion Valley Market Square and University Town Center. Over the years, Jim worked with Madison Marquette, The State Teachers and Retirement System of Ohio, Donohoe Companies, Monument Realty, Lennar Partners, The Nature Conservancy, Multi-Employers Property Trust, Toll Brothers, Akridge Real Estate Services, Northwestern Mutual Life, Atlantic Realty Companies and many others.

Viktor Pregel is an associate in Arent Fox's real estate group. His practice focuses heavily on commercial real estate work, including leasing, loans and acquisitions and sales of property. He also works a great deal in the restaurant, hospitality and nonprofit fields, as well as general corporate transactions.
Pregel's recent representative transactions include: negotiation of a number of leases between a large luxury resort group and high-end gourmet restaurant and retail store owners opening restaurants and retail shops in exclusive vacation resorts around the country; the acquisition and sale of hotels in the DC area and around the country; and negotiation of a management agreement between the District of Columbia and a nonprofit organization for the rehabilitation and operation of D.C. public schools.
